Services
Active agronomy
Get realistic assessments of your crops. Be sure of accurate advice. We can provide crop-walking in fruit, ornamentals and veg crops, backed by the most up-to-date agronomy recommendations.
Plant protection product training
All your staff – not simply those involved in cultivation – need to know about achieving effective pest or disease control andhow to secure long-term sustainability. Our training (which includes biocontrol training) gives valuable information and insights. We’re currently working with a large ornamental company to identify and develop managers in understanding crop production.
Integrated Crop Management training
Go a stage further and consolidate your knowledge in implementing IPM production techniques that improve crop quality, yield and profit.
Optimising crop protection programmes
Make sure your pesticide and fungicide programmes are ‘match fit’. We know that your growing situation is unique and will make an objective evaluation that incorporates site-specific parameters with fertiliser recommendations if required. You’ll go beyond one-off spray applications to programmes that deliver season-long protection.
Developing macrobial IPM programmes
Pest control using beneficial insects as natural predators is key to the future of biological control. If you grow crops under protection, you probably already use such methods. As biological experts, we can develop your expertise through our experience in grower technical management. In addition to providing biocontrol advice, we’re delighted to help clients implement full macrobial programmes.
Regulatory affairs: assistance and advice
Keep on top of ever-changing regulation. We’ll help smooth the way, whether for working with minority-use crop protection products or getting them approved. Examples include a wide-ranging regulatory and registration strategy, as well as an EAMU programme for a UK manufacturer and emergency derogations including copper and acequinocyl acaricide.
New-product launches
Regulation aside, we can help get new products off the ground. Our experience includes successful launches of Bacillus amyloliquefasciens and potassium phosphonate mixed with seaweed extract fungicides, an azadiractin insecticide, acequinocyl and hexythiazox acaricides and others.
Crop loss claims
No-one likes to think about crop losses, but we provide an unbiased expert witness opinion to progress claims with insurers. We can also help bring production and profitability up to speed after a disaster.
Crop protection product development
We frequently take the lead in trials work and product launches – including biofungicide product development. Moreover, we help identify commercial partnerships and facilitate pathways for commercial take-up.
Representing grower industry groups
Make sure your specialism has a strong, coherent voice where it counts. We’ve solid experience here and have been an HTA Tree and Hedging group coordinator (2015-19).
Educational seminars
Refresh your knowledge and learn the latest horticulture news at regular technical update courses, usually held in winter. Get in touch to find out more.
Study tours and overseas trips
See how things are done at important reference sites and industry events. We can help organise trips for you – a study tour went to BaumschulTechnik (nursery machinery, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany) in 2019. We expect there to be a few trips in the future. Contact us to stay updated.
